Ireland is a signatory to the Okanagan Charter, which is and international charter for health promoting universities. The Okanagan charter is the basis upon which the Irish Healthy Campus Charter was written. The Okanagan Charter can be read in full here (and in Irish here); and the Irish Healthy Campus Charter can be found here.

This year is the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Okanagan Charter, and the International Health Promoting Campuses Conference was held in University of Limerick in June to celebrate. Attendees came from around the world to reflect on what the charter has meant for higher education institutes in their countries, as well as to present research conducted on various aspects of health and wellbeing in higher education. AMLÉ were delighted to be among the delegates and to have a chance to learn about student mental health from other countries.
The conference also provided an opportunity to review the existing Okanagan Charter, with attendees invited to have input throughout the conference week.
