AMLÉ is excited to be part of the stakeholder group involved with the SMART-IE project. SMART-IE stands for Student Mental Health Technologies – Implementation and Evaluation and the key aim of the project is to improve mental health support for third levels students in Ireland, specifically looking at digital interventions. It is led by researchers Professor Gary Donohoe and Dr Leona Ryan from University of Galway with input from others around the country.

Recently, AMLÉ were invited to take part in a stakeholder engagement meeting in Athlone for the day. The group were presented with key findings and were then invited to take part in discussion and input into the possible next steps for the project.

As always within any student mental health project that takes place within the higher education sector, it is vital that students form a part of the conversation, and it is always an honour to represent to student voice on these projects. It is always a good sign when the student voice is included from the beginning as a natural part of the programme, and that has been the case with the SMART-IE project. We in AMLÉ look forward to seeing where this project leads and to being involved as it continues.
