AMLÉ recently attended the HEA Healthy Campus Health and Wellbeing Conference in the Law Society of Ireland. The theme for the conference was ‘Global Perspectives, Ireland Leadership: Transforming Healthy Campus Policy’.

As part of the event, AMLÉ submitted two case studies which were accepted and displayed on the day. The first one was on the general AMLÉ Open Up Mental Health Campaign, and the second one was one the AMLÉ Gambling, Substance Use and Mental Health Survey. In due course, both of these case studies have been uploaded to the HEA healthy campus website along with all the other case studies. You can view them at this link by clicking “2026 case studies” on the right hand side.

AMLÉ also presented a lightning talk as part of the conference, giving a brief overview of how surveys such as our recent one on gambling, substance use and mental health provide data which we use to inform our work, such as our lobbying and campaign work. The video of this can be found below. Other presentations at the conference gave a broad and fascinating insight into the wide range of things that can impact on a ‘healthy campus’ from the physical environment and wildlife of a campus, to capitalism and commuting solutions.
